Epirus -- A movement claims,
``Since 1913, the Government of Albania has
illegally occupied Epirus, now is the time
to DEMAND that Epirus be given the opportunity
to exercise the self-determination that is hers
by right! The Government of Epirus was
established in 1999 when, at the request
of H.R.H. Prince Alexander of Epirus, the
Epirotean Patriotic Organization was
dissolved.''
It was the site of a couple of Dorian colonies founded
by Corinth between 750 and 550 BC, centering around
the towns of Epidampus and Aulon along the Greek
coast of the Adriatic.
Their greatest fame came under King Pyrrhus, he of the
"Pyrrhic Victory" against the Romans (c. 280 BC).
Today it is a province in southeastern Albania,
bordering Greece.
